Due to continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our charity audit team by recruiting a motivated individual who is seeking a challenging career with opportunities to develop their own technical skills within the firm.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the director and manager in planning, performing and completing audit assignments
  • Taking responsibility for all aspects of audit fieldwork
  • Ensuring audit fieldwork is completed to a high standard, on time and within budget
  • Preparing high quality audit documentation and financial statements
  • Assisting clients and managers with queries
  • Coaching and supporting junior staff members
  • Managing your workload effectively to meet deadlines
  • Developing strong client relationships

Candidates will:

  • Be a qualified CA with an appropriate level of practical experience
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong track record of managing workflow and leading onsite audits
  • Have excellent technical knowledge and demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and coaching. Knowledge of the Charities SORP (FRS 102) and the third sector are desirable but not essential as appropriate training will be given
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Have a strong work ethic and a willingness to take ownership of their work
  • Be flexible in attitude and approach to their work
  • Be a team player and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues

Due to continued growth we are looking for a qualified accountant to join our friendly and supportive Accounts and Business Advisory team, where you will be a valued and integral part of the team. You will be working on a varied portfolio of accounts clients who operate in a variety of sectors including Construction, Farming and Estates, Family Investment Companies and Consultants. These clients include sole traders, partnerships and companies.

Your main duties for these clients will include:

  • Ensuring work is completed to a high quality, on time and within budget
  • Preparation and finalisation of statutory and non-statutory accounts
  • Preparation and finalisation of corporation tax returns
  • Preparation and finalisation of management accounts and VAT returns
  • Working closely with the senior manager and partner
  • Involvement in ad hoc advisory projects for your portfolio of clients
  • Being a trusted point of contact with your clients and helping to manage and develop a portfolio of clients
  • Supervising and coaching junior members of the team and reviewing their work

Knowledge and experience

  • A qualified CA/ACCA with a background in an accountancy practice and an appropriate level of practical experience
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of accounting standards
  • Experience of management accounting and accounting software
  • Experience in supervising or managing staff.
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Motivated and a willingness to take ownership of your work
  • Experience and strong knowledge of various accounting systems such as CCH, Alphatax, Myworkpapers, Xero and other cloud systems

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a payroll assistant to join our friendly and supportive payroll department where you will be a valued and integral part of the team.

Role Overview

  • Reviewing client information and processing weekly, monthly, fortnightly & yearly payrolls
  • Processing new starters & leavers
  • Dealing with all aspects of statutory payments and deductions
  • Processing information for external third parties, such as Child Support Agency and DWP
  • Producing and analysing reports
  • Reconciliation of payrolls
  • Advising employees on PAYE and NIC matters
  • Dealing with all aspects of auto-enrolment
  • Processing of construction industry returns
  • Ability to attend to any client queries or Revenue issues
  • Manual tax and NI calculations as required

Role Requirements

  • Up to date knowledge of PAYE rules / auto-enrolment pension
  • Good administration, planning and time management skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines and able to use own initiative
  • Experience of IRIS Payroll Professional preferred but not essential
